Bed with a headboard

A pronounced footboard or a more open bed end?

The foot of the bed affects both the room’s appearance and the space used to move around it.

Plan the layout and dimensions

Compare the complete external lengths of the beds, including any projecting footboard. Mark the route between the bed and wardrobe or doorway. A visually open end can feel lighter, but it still needs enough physical clearance. If you regularly sit at the foot of the bed, confirm whether the design supports that use rather than assuming from the photograph.

Check everyday use before ordering

Consider bedding, cleaning access and how tall the bed looks from the entrance. A higher footboard may frame the mattress strongly, while a lower end leaves more of the room visible. Check mattress compatibility and the final sleeping height. Choose the shape after confirming that drawers, doors and any storage mechanism can operate without moving the bed.
