Cleaning and care

Proper vacuuming is essential to maintaining the quality and longevity of both woolen and synthetic fiber rugs.

VACUUMING
For routine maintenance of cut fleece rugs, use a vacuum cleaner or rug beater as recommended.
Cut-and-sheared pile covers may release loose fibers from the surface, especially in early use, which can concern buyers. This is inherent in cut fleece products. Only a minor portion of the fleece is affected. To minimize 'dusting,' vacuum the rug frequently and thoroughly from the start.
Variations in shading in cut fleece rugs, whether new or used, do not indicate reduced quality, but are optical effects. The pile cover is oriented in multiple directions due to use and cleaning, and incidental lighting causes temporary bright or dark areas.

REMOVAL OF STAINS AND DIRT
Immediate action maximizes stain or dirt removal. Quickly absorb spilled liquids with tissue or cloth. Remove other debris gently with a knife or spoon. Clean stains from edge to center. Avoid rubbing to prevent spreading and fleece distortion. Use a minimal cleaning agent to avoid over-wetting. To prevent streaking, sprinkle talcum powder or potato flour along the edges of the stain. For mud, let it dry before vacuuming.

WET CLEANING
Only the shampooing method that prevents excessive wetness is permitted. Prefer professional rug cleaners using proven products and methods. When refreshing rugs at home, follow product instructions. Always vacuum thoroughly before shampooing. Do not soak rugs during cleaning. If shampooing is used, remove greasy stains with appropriate solvents and let the rug dry before additional cleaning. Dry damp rugs flat at room temperature.

SPECIAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Prevent the buildup of heavy dirt. Shield the rug from moisture and soaking. Avoid creases and breaks. Use commercial preparations to remove stains only after verifying they will not damage fibers, discolor, or loosen rug backing.
