Using a headboard as the bedroom focal point
Share
A headboard can define the bed area when its proportions work with the wall, lighting and surrounding furniture.
Plan the layout and dimensions
Mark the proposed width and height on the wall with removable tape. Compare it with the complete bed frame, not only the mattress. Include sockets, switches and wall lights so the new headboard does not cover them. Decide whether the headboard should form a quiet background or carry the room’s main colour and texture.
Check everyday use before ordering
Keep the surrounding bedding and bedside pieces simple while testing a strong headboard shape. View the arrangement from the doorway and from the opposite side of the room. Confirm the mounting method, required hardware and compatibility with the bed. A striking photograph does not establish how a separate headboard will be supported in your particular setup.
