Upholstered pouf

Pairing a pouf fabric with a different sofa colour

A pouf can complement a sofa without matching its upholstery exactly when colour, texture and scale are considered together.

Plan the layout and dimensions

Place the fabric samples beside each other and against the rug or flooring. Decide whether the pouf should blend into the seating group or act as a small accent. A related undertone can connect different colours, while similar textures can help different shapes feel consistent. Compare the pair in the room’s evening lighting as well as daylight.

Check everyday use before ordering

Keep function in the decision: for use as a footrest, compare height and distance from the sofa; for seating, check the model’s intended use. If the pouf is already strongly textured, quieter cushions may make the combination clearer. Start with one repeated colour elsewhere in the room, then remove unnecessary accents before adding another pattern.
