Mixing different dining chairs around one table
Share
Different dining chairs can form a coherent group when seat height and physical fit are checked before colour matching.
Plan the layout and dimensions
Measure clearance below the tabletop and between the legs. Compare the chairs’ overall widths, seat heights and armrests. A chair that looks narrow in a photograph may have a wide back or splayed legs. Test the number of seats against the table structure rather than dividing table length by a typical chair width.
Check everyday use before ordering
Choose a shared feature, such as a material, colour or repeated shape, and vary another feature deliberately. Check that every chair can be pulled out without colliding with nearby furniture. If the head chairs differ, include their extra width in the room plan. Evaluate comfort and cleaning needs for everyday meals before deciding whether the visual mix is successful.
