Dining chair with a backrest

Checking chair placement around a round dining table

A round table’s diameter is only one part of the seating calculation; chair width and the base shape matter too.

Plan the layout and dimensions

Draw the tabletop at its actual diameter and add each chair’s full outline. Compare the usable space around the edge and the position of the table legs or pedestal. Check whether chair arms fit beneath the top and whether adjacent backs touch when chairs are tucked in. Do not infer the seat count from the table photograph alone.

Check everyday use before ordering

Pull the chairs out on the plan and check the route around occupied places. In a small room, a wide chair can reduce access even when the table itself fits. Test where serving dishes will sit and whether people can reach them comfortably. Choose the final count using the exact table and chair dimensions, then confirm the manufacturer’s specifications for the models you intend to buy.
