Fitting a console table into a narrow hallway
Share
Start with the passage width before choosing a console table for a narrow hallway.
Plan the layout and dimensions
Measure the narrowest point and include skirting boards, handles and door swings. Mark the console’s full depth on the floor, then walk past while carrying the items you normally bring home. A shallow-looking top may sit on a wider base, so compare the complete dimensions. Leave access to sockets and switches.
Check everyday use before ordering
Choose the functions that the top must serve, such as a key tray or a small lamp, and avoid filling it with objects that project into the passage. Confirm stability and any wall-fixing requirements. If the console makes the only route awkward, compare a smaller model or another storage location rather than judging the choice only by how it looks against the wall.
